Through our physical practice, we stoke our internal fire to channel prana and awaken the central channel. Unlike asceticism, in tantra, we use our body and mind to tap deeply into our creative source. When we honor that Source we discover that we already are what we are seeking. We empower our practice and we cultivate joy and contentment in our daily life.

In this 24 hour advanced yoga teacher training, we will explore:
  • Tantric Philosophy, including dualism and non-dualism
  • The historical progression of tantra, including the Upanishads, The Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Shiva Samhita

Muladhara Chakra

Mul = base, adhara = support. Muladhara means root, foundation. Chakra = wheel of energy.
This is the first chakra, your base of support.

Description: The muladhara chakra represents our survival center. It provides stability and security.
It is the seat of which Kundalini Shakti (your creative potential) rests, the basis from which the possibility of higher realization arises. It is the root of all growth and awareness of human divinity. Muladhara corresponds with the planet Mars, the commander and chief- who rules discipline and purpose.

Our practice of Sacred Art painting will start with a short meditation to set our practice intention for the time we have. Then we will engage in our creative process of chakra drawing & painting. Learn the qualities and colors of the first chakra and use vedic mathematics to create your own unique mandala pattern around the first chakra.

In Chinese medicine, the yin meridians run along the seams of the medial and anterior legs and arms, and act as gateways into the chest, belly and pelvic regions. Trauma-Sensitive Yoga: A Workshop for Survivors, Loved Ones, and Teachers with Eileen Rosete and Alissa Catiis Next held on Sat, Jan 24, 2015 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sat Jan 24, 2015 - Sat Jan 24, 2015
“TRAUMA IS A FACT OF LIFE. IT DOES NOT, HOWEVER, HAVE TO BE A LIFE SENTENCE.
Not only can trauma be healed, but with appropriate guidance and support, it can be transformative. Trauma has the potential to be one of the most significant forces for psychological, social, and spiritual awakening and
evolution.”
– Peter Levine, author of Waking The Tiger

Yoga has the power to help people heal from trauma, but it cannot do so in and of itself. Yoga instructors need to be sensitive to trauma and how trauma survivors may experience a yoga class in order to help actualize yoga’s healing properties. Survivors can also empower themselves with tools to feel safe within the yogic community, and loved ones can gain awareness about how to best support survivors.

In this workshop you will learn:
• An overview of trauma and its impacts on the brain and the body
• Why trauma-sensitive yoga is needed
• Foundational principles of trauma-sensitive yoga
• Tools survivors can use to feel safe within a yoga class

This workshop is taught by Alissa Catiis and Eileen Rosete and will conclude with a 60 minute trauma-sensitive yoga class.

Introduction to Teaching Yoga to Children with Mira Binzen Next held on Sun, Feb 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Feb 1, 2015 - Sun Feb 1, 2015
Children love Yoga. They love the movement and creative expression associated with the asanas, and they cherish the opportunity to “rest” at the end of each class. Based on sound child development principals, the ancient science of Yoga is turned into fun, engaging, age appropriate stuff kids love.

Children experience the same benefits from a Yoga practice as adults – increased body awareness, overall fitness, mental acuity and stress hardiness. By learning to teach Yoga to children you can help them:
  • Develop strength, flexibility and coordination – of both body and mind
  • Improve focus
  • Raise self-awareness
  • Build self-esteem
  • Release stress
  • Relax completely
  • Breathe well
  • Cultivate healthy habits
  • Generate a sense of inner peace and contentment they can share with the world
The practice of Yoga for children is unsurpassed as a form of preventative health – health on all levels – mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Through stories and games children develop lifelong healthy habits and are supported in blossoming into their highest potential.
This 4-hour workshop includes an introduction to the benefits and specialized techniques of teaching Yoga to children ages 5 years old through teens as well as whole families. We then get to become the children and practice a class just as they do. A question and answer session follows with resources for further study. You will walk away with many tools and techniques to share with the children in your life as well as a deeper understanding of yoga.

Swami Satchidanada, a great spiritual leader said, “Children come into this world very pure. It’s up to the adults to help them stay bright, strong and healthy.”

Optimal Health: The Gut-Hormone Connection with Bernie Rosen Next held on Sun, Mar 1, 2015 at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Mar 1, 2015 - Sun Mar 1, 2015
Do you suffer from bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, IBS, acid reflux or any other ongoing digestive discomfort?
Are you more tired, crabby, or emotional than you used to be?

Do you notice your sex drive is lacking?

As humans, we do not come with an owner's manual, and if we did, many of us have either lost it or have not referenced it all! There are two systems that have the most impact on how we feel and experience the day; the digestive system and the neuro-endocrine-immune system. Often these systems are treated separately, but in fact, they act as one.

In this workshop, you will learn how your body was designed to work as we take an in-depth look at these two systems and what happens when they become stressed and out of balance.

Yang Meridians:
The Sacred Seams of the Outer Legs and Arms with Ali Modell Next held on Sun, Mar 8, 2015 at 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun Mar 8, 2015 - Sun Mar 8, 2015
In Chinese medicine, the yang meridians run along the seams of the lateral and posterior legs and arms, and act as gateways into the head and face. When open and balanced, they play a strong role in one’s overall health and vitality. In this all levels practice, we will use effort and ease to open these sacred seams.

Students will learn:
  • the pathway of each of the 6 primary yang meridians and it's overlying sinew pathway
  • to palpate clinically relevant acupressure points along the pathways and their key actions and indications
  • to distinguish between the yin and yang areas of the body and the relationship between the channel and its corresponding organ
After an introductory 45 minute lecture, students will engage in a full spectrum yoga practice to open and move energy through the yang meridians. Handouts with detailed depictions of the meridians will be provided to support and supplement the students' learning.

(includes 1 hour lunch break)
