Lori Gaspar, BFA, MA, 500 E-RYT, is the Founder and Director of Prairie Yoga. Lori is known as a "teacher of teachers" – passionate about training yoga teachers to better adapt the yoga practice so it is accessible to a broader range of students. This is why Lori founded Prairie Yoga in 2006 with its 500-hour advanced yoga teacher training program.
Trained to Train
Lori is trained in alignment-based yoga, ashtanga vinyasa, restorative and adaptation. An enthusiastic student and teacher, she has been practicing yoga for 20 years, teaching yoga for 15 years and training yoga teachers for 13 years. Lori is certified as an Advanced Yoga Teacher and a Relax and Renew® restorative yoga teacher from Judith Hanson Lasater. She also holds certifications from Moksha Yoga Center and Tias Little’s Prajna Yoga. She apprenticed for many years under Gabriel Halpern, a life-long student of BKS Iyengar. Interested in all modalities related to mindful movement, she studies with many anatomy and physiology teachers and recently completed a year long program with Katy Bowman in Nutritious Movement™. She has many thousands of hours of study and experience and continues to be a life-long student of yoga.
Adding to Lori’s understanding of yoga is her study of Asian Classic Literature, Sanskrit and Eastern Philosophy at the University of Chicago. Her academic pursuits took her to India to study historic and current practices of yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
Committed to Evolving the Classical Form of Yoga
Lori’s dynamic, evolutionary teaching emphasizes alignment of the body, mind and spirit and cultivating inner wisdom. Unfazed by the latest yoga craze, she guides students to look within to realize their dharma. Trainees appreciate Lori’s clear teaching, calm nature, caring spirit and professionalism.
