Finding Balance

In hatha yoga, we purposefully combine opposite energies to find balance in our center. Many of the techniques we use in yoga are meant to counter balance the repetitive movements we use in our daily lives that drift us away from health. For instance, many of us sit with our arms forward for long periods of the day, checking our phones, working on the computer or driving. Creating Peace in a Troubled World

When I hear of the tragedies that others are suffering around the world and right here at home, it affirms my belief that we need to keep teaching and practicing the deep tradition of yoga. The underlying message of yoga philosophy is that we are all connected by a divine essence. So when we hurt another, we hurt ourselves. The practice of yoga helps us see ourselves clearly, who we really are. First we become aware of how our bodies, mind and breath move. Attention

One of the most valuable things I have learned in yoga is to pay attention. To your self, to your surroundings, to your tasks, to your loved ones. So when your teacher is asking you to lift your pinky toe or watch your breath or move your shoulder blade, it is training you to pay attention to all these things that are with you all the time but you never notice. The ability to notice what was once invisible and is now obvious helps you experience life to its fullest. Read More

Returning home to our new upstairs studio space!

Our new studio space is almost done and is looking fabulous! Hardwood floors, built in speaker system, and a peaceful, second story view of the trees. We will have 18 sets of wall ropes- enough for up to 36 people! This will be the space for all our yoga teacher trainings and workshop offerings. Read More

Why Alignment Matters

If you encounter a yoga teacher who states that alignment doesn't matter, roll up your sticky mat and walk away! The mis-alignment of the body causes all sorts of obstacles on the path to reveal your true Self. It is very hard to access your Spirit when your muscles grip, your energy is stuck, you are feeling pain or discomfort, or when your breath is limited.
